What is a CSV
A CSV is a comma-separated values file, which allows data to be saved in a tabular format.. CSV files can be opened up using Excel, just like you can open xlsx (Excel) files. There are two ways to open CSV files in Excel.
- Open Excel, and just drag and drop the CSV file into Excel
- Setup Windows to open CSV files
Set up Windows to open CSV file
Right click on a CSV file (file with .csv extension), and select Open With option. If you don’t have a CSV file, just create an empty file with name test.csv
Click on Open with Excel
If you do not have Excel in the Open with Drop down, select Choose another app
If in the list of apps, you have Excel, select that. If not, click on More Apps
Click on Look for another app on this PC
In the file select dialog box, search for excel. In the search results, select EXCEL
After this all your CSV files can be directly opened with Excel, just by double-clicking on the file
Saving CSV Files using Excel
In Excel, select Save As. In the drop down shown for selecting a file format, select CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv). You may choose to rename the file with .csv extension. E.g. demo_upload_returns.csv
